Of Turtles and Giants

The shadowlands accept the turtle because he can smile
amidst an inquisition
- Rilian

But only when the beams of glory dance beyond the driven sea
- Maven

Who, save the albatross, can notice this subtle changing of the guard?
For when does the laughing child get to take his turn?
- Rilian

Fortunate are we that this extant family is fully au courant and not adrift on the matter.
Those who wait must again find their home
- Maven

If genuinity is lacking, lengthening their reach will only allow more drifters
to slip into the infinite abyss...

- Rilian

For who will scale the ever changing obstacle of the incumbent one?
I say those that desire to tread, will so tread
- Maven

The fire within scales the wall. Those who capture it can only find solace
in knowing that a setup is afoot in the Circle less traveled

- Rilian

Travel as you may, the threat of those who reach aimlessly through
the gaping holes of freedom may find flight
- Maven

But turtles can only be pulled if they wish, and only by a giant
sporting an invisible shield
- Rilian

I must ask, what giant is inclined to labor carelessly?
Those testudines who seek the face of their minions
may not always conquer
- Maven

Simple minds can only conquer when teamed with children
riding on the backs of eagles.
- Rilian

Quite aptly spoken. Those who clearly see are never taken aback
at the true revelation of who actually holds the simple minds

Traveling Blind

Should the peasants arise to meet
this new challenge, they will find their
passion thwarted by a score of burrows
hitched to buggies.

- Rilian

Trains will never fly,
because the rails will always be grounded.
First class is good for the booze,
but in
aristocrats mind ... The conductor is considered
little more than a peon.

Climbing Ladders

Soaring over the river the young eagle finds a tributary that only a few other white crowns fish,
But while descending from the air he found himself ascending in the water into what he thought was his reflection. . .The young rainbow trout's deadly day dream.
-Shibs

The key to dodging fate rests not in reflections, but in rabbit holes and caterpillars.
-
Rilian

Fish that swim up water slides, never find the things to be amusing, though the otters claim the slides are a blast. Perhaps the fish expects more water at the top.

An Author's Welcome

As Chance grants new life to old blood, a friendly hunting party
will chase swallows only to find that dinosaurs aren't extinct, after all.
-
Rilian

While finding the decaying fossils of old may seem ultimate in itself, one can hope only to achieve the revelation that this futile act is merely the turning of a distant handle.

-Maven

And so the march begins, if only to outrun the end. For the workers are doomed, and the diggers and generals but hope they can outrun the sound of the fat lady's winsome song.

Shadows of Men

The salmon swims upstream to avoid the
temptation of the water buffalo's wayward ilk.
- Rilian

But remembering that doing the right thing
for the wrong reason is not all it's meant to be,
the wavering trout took the less traveled road
of the most independent yak.
-Maven

The pilgrimage home was ended quickly in the jowels of
the Great Griz, hence the old addage, "You can never go home."
- Rilian

All the way home and yet there to be found.
Alas the weight of the world is carried to the depths.
-Maven

If the ship sinks, and no one is looking,
the captain will move onto another berth,
and not go down with his ship.

Battling Breakfast

Sadly, yet another Anglican Warrior will
falter when
the traitor is revealed as both
beginning and end.

-Rilian

As ones mind has acted decidedly, will
they then take the fall? Or has it become
a product of the faltering battle that rages
within us all, becoming a burden we share
as one?
-Maven

Passion dictates that all good men rush the field,
keeping in mind the lessons gleaned from an early
breakfast. Will magic once again rear its beautiful
head in reverence for the song of the dead?
- Rilian

The Tiger and the Sea

When the tiger breaks free,
the television will return to
full color programming.
- Rilian

Though it seems that the tiger's stripes
have been jaded, if not removed, due to the
abominable acts of the trainer...
resulting in yet again another
botched show.
-Maven

Let it be known wide and far that the secret life
of the trainer has been brought to bare, and his
bungling shall be evermore retreated to such
abominations as crimson tides.

Details at 11...
- Rilian

While this may be all so true, the fate
of the jungle is still at stake. Not
dissimilar to the crashing
waves
of the open sea.

-Maven

Then all that is left shall wilt to the tune of
a rams horn, dipped in the dreams of bearded
foes.

Sonny's Last Ballad

The Canadians smuggle rum into their bellies
whilst the jackals grow fat off parmesan cheese
- Rilian

Cheese that can only find its path to the sun

through the rigor of a waitress named Sarah
-
Maven

Should Loner Sonny play pool, the curdled
sustenance
will move along at a merry clip indeed
- Rilian

Unfortunately he was quickly captured due to his

incognizant curdling skills, which clearly caused
the breech in the westward dam
-
Maven

Choosing instead to write, the passing
dutch boy
scrawled "The Road Goes On Forever"

The Fleecing

At midnight the sloth will sell
his wares to an unsuspecting tourist

- Rilian

Not before the resounding rain patterns
its magnificent duet above the orchard's madness

-
Maven

But if gale force winds prevail,
nature's duet will have yet another player

-
Rilian

Galley-like

Candied Yams will be served in
Mr Archer's servants' quarters

the raft to seize and sell the fallen scraps

Revolt of the Sordid Few

Can the rain travel to New York on a giant's tears,
while avoiding the warlock?

Rilian

Only if the rooster does not aspire to any role in the
furtherance of the frosted trigger

Maven

The merchant will squallow his wares for a
walk on the beach at sunrise

Rilian

Beside the path of the tranquil torrent they will only go
so far as to see the result of beloved sparks.

Maven

The Sparks of passion can only serve to ignite a revolt of the working class,
unless the renaissance rapidly comes to fruition

Rilian

Well march then further, brave admiral, the tune of resounding cheers
calls aloud to all those freed yet again

- Maven

Wayward Seacreature

Whether the seahorse know or not,
the leopard was smoking with a rubber ball

Rilian

Ahh…but while smoking, realized that the founders
playful coquetry left the trees much to be desired,
hence the beginning of the age of reason

Maven

But shall the artisans fall through the ranks of dizzying fantasy,
or can the seahorse meet Mr. Anthony on his way to town?

Rilian

Only if the algid road is faced in an unsuspecting way.
Much like the nod from a local owl merchant

Maven

Animal Instinct

The owl stayed behind, but only the
ploy of the grass will be revealed

Maven

Oh how the wind flows – as it goes so goes the
turtle under the guise of indifference

Rilian
